Coordinated reaction of glutathione-dependent system of Acer species seeds to pollutants chronic action

The content of reduced glutathione (GSH) and glutathione-S-transferase (GST, EC 2.5.1.18), glutathione-peroxidase (GPX, EC 1.11.1.9) and glutathione-reductase (GR, EC 1.6.4.2) activity in Acer platanoides and Acer pseudoplatanus seeds from contaminated phytocenoses were determined. Species-specific and coordinated changes of GSH pool and glutathione-dependent enzymes activity confirm the participation of glutathione cycle in the implementation of different adaptation strategies of Acer species to pollutants chronic action.
