Myron Yuriyovych Klevets (1.04.1938, Negrovets, Transcarpathian region. – 7.05.2015, Lviv) – great physiologist, biophysicist, a mentor who dedicated his life to the research of electrophysiological properties of smooth muscles and secretory cells. Professor of Human and Animal Physiology (2001), Doctor of Science (thesis: Electrical Properties of secretory cells of digestive glands and mechanisms of enzymes extrusion activation, 1993), assistant professor of human and animal physiology (1978), PhD (thesis: Mechanisms of adrenaline, noradrenalin and acetylcholine influence on electric properties of intestine smooth muscle, 1967). Distinguished Professor of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (2004). He graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Uzhgorod University (1963), was a postgraduate student of Department of Biophysics in Kiev University (1967). In 1967-68 – the senior lecturer of Biophysics in Uzhgorod University; 1968-71 – senior lecturer of Rivne General Scientific Faculty of Kyiv University. 1971-76 – Assistant, Associate Professor 1976-91, 1991-2010 - Head of Department of Human and Animal Physiology, and since 2010 - Professor of Human and Animal Physiology of Lviv University. He was the first who have been established a method of fixing transmembrane potential in secretory cells under intracellular perfusion condition and initiated ion transport studies of these cells. He was one of founders of scientific school “Bioenergy and Electrophysiology of Secretory Cells”. He supervised 7 PhD and 4 DSci thesis. Author of more than 230 scientific papers, including 6 handbooks.
